FAQs
What is Boudoir Photography?
Boudoir photography is a tasteful, sensual type of photography that captures a subject usually in lingerie - but can also be loungewear, jeans or no clothes at all! I will pose you throughout the shoot so you can relax and focus on being your sexiest self! I like to call my style tastefully moody - I use natural sunlight to create dramatic, classy shots - check out the gallery to see what I mean!
How is Boudoir pronounced?
The "bou" sounds like "boo," and the "doir" part is pronounced like "dwaahr," - the emphasis is on the second syllable. The word boudoir comes from French, where it originally referred to a private room or a woman's dressing room, or a place for quiet reflection and relaxation.
Why Boudoir?
A boudoir shoot is a powerful way to reconnect with your confidence, embrace your body, and celebrate yourself just as you are. Whether you're looking to mark a special occasion, fall in love with your body after a medical procedure, or you’re gifting photos to a significant other, boudoir photography is all about self-love and feeling beautiful in your own skin.
Why should I choose Maple Boudoir?
You should choose a photographer who matches your aesthetic style and who you think you’d feel comfortable shooting with. Clients have told me they’ve felt immediately relaxed when walking into the studio, even if they were nervous leading up to the shoot! I simply love meeting new people and creating art together - I think my clients catch the excitement! As for the photos, check out the gallery!
What should I wear to my boudoir shoot?
Whatever you feel best in! For some, that’s lingerie while others opt for loose, white button-down shirts, jeans and bra etc. If you do choose lingerie for one or more of your looks, (you get 2 to 4 looks/outfits, depending on the package you select) I recommend choosing a bra and panty set that fits well and doesn’t create any bulges that don’t exist - aim for wide, soft bands for the waistband and back of the bra. And if you typically wear significant boob support, you’ll want that too!
Are my images private?
All images remain strictly private unless you grant written permission for sharing. While we enjoy showcasing images in our portfolio, there's absolutely no pressure or obligation for you to do so. Your image privacy is entirely in your hands, and we respect your decision 100%.
What is the structure of the shoot?
When you arrive at the studio lobby, I'll be there to greet you and bring you to our studio! We will discuss some poses and styles you like and we'll pick which outfits you want to wear for each pose! Then we'll put on your favorite music and get to it!! I'll show you exactly how to pose, where to look, what to do with your hands - and I'll fix your hair if its out of place! We'll have a blast - the time passes so quickly!
Is partial and full nudity allowed?
If you’re comfortable, yes! I photograph tasteful nudes all the time during solo sessions (no crotch/explicit shots). Underwear is required during couple sessions, for both parties.
Do the packages include a hair and makeup artist?
To keep prices affordable and to give clients the option to do hair and makeup themselves, we do not provide a hair and makeup artist.
Do you retouch the photos?
Yes, the number of edited photos depends on the package you choose - see the pricing/info section. The retouching includes smoothing skin, stretch marks or anything else you’d like to minimize. We don’t change facial features or body shape - we embrace our bodies using my stash of sexy poses!
I got my period - can we still shoot?
A thousand percent! I’ve got lots of poses up my sleeve to disguise any bloating you’re nervous about. You don’t need to worry one bit!
Can I bring a friend to the shoot?
You are more than welcome to invite one friend or family member to accompany you to your boudoir session. To maintain focus and ensure the best experience for you, our studio policy allows for only one additional individual to join.
Do you photograph individual men?
At this time, I photograph women and couples exclusively.
What’s the reschedule/cancellation policy?
The deposit required to book the shoot is non-refundable. If the client needs to reschedule or cancel within one week of the scheduled shoot, there will be a fee of $175 for incurred expenses.
